Product Description
Bushcraft Outfitters MEST™ Poncho - Large - Coyote
While useful as a stand-alone item, the MEST™ Poncho can also compliment one of our tarps or an existing shelter system you currently have.
The MEST™ Poncho can be used as a poncho, ground cloth, emergency shelter, improvised pack cover, improvised litter, etc.
In May 2018 we upgraded the hoods on the standard MEST Ponchos. They are now larger hoods and have a binder strip sewn in the seams to divert water.
Specs:
- Size: 58"X 93"
- 70D nylon
- Tabs: 8 perimeter
- Weight: 13.2 oz
- Includes stuff sack
- Hydrostatic Head: >2000 mm
We recommend sealing this poncho with our Fast Cure Seam Sealant found on the line/shelter accessories page. You simply apply a thin even coat along the hood seams being sure to cover all of the exposed threads/folds in the fabric and let stand overnight to dry. This works best when you seal the outside layer of the poncho.
Made in the USA.

MEST Coyote Poncho
I have been searching for something rainproof to go over the top of my Hill People Gear insulated Mountain Serape. Since it is insulated, there is more bulk in the hood than most hoods, and everything I have tried so far has been too small to go on over the hood. The Coyote MEST Poncho worked perfectly. Plenty of room to go on over the HPG Serape and hood. Mission accomplished and I am very happy with the results and quality of this poncho.

MEST Poncho
Me: Long time backpacker, rookie at bushcraft. The build quality is 5 stars, but since I have not used it in the field yet, I am sticking to four stars overall. I'm 6'4" and long limbed. So I didn't quite benefit from the protection in the down pour I walked in to test it out. My sleeves got pretty soaked. Otherwise though, I was dry and comfortable. I'd buy it again and I'd recommend it from the quality I have experienced thus far.

MEST Poncho
Used this poncho while backpacking in an absolute deluge of a rainstorm this past weekend and it performed very well. Staying completely dry in that environment was impossible, but the poncho kept me more dry than I thought it would. The temps dropped off quickly into the 30's F, but just the poncho as a vapor barrier and a base layer top underneath kept me at a good temp, and the ventilation when moving allowed me to dump heat when I needed to. Overall, I am very pleased with it. It has a good quality to cost ratio and performed well in difficult conditions. Only reason for 4 stars is the previously stated issue with hood size and opening. Other than than, I can highly recommend it!

Great piece of kit
I bought this to test out and love it. I've added it to my vehicle emergency kit supplies. The versatility of the MEST poncho will probably lead me to buy several others for myself and friends.
