These Fire Plugs are infused with a proprietary wax solution that leaves a protective coating that extends beyond the surface through the entire cotton core. Each plug is very easy to fluff into an effective fire starting tinder that works in all seasons and all weather. Average burn times reported of up to 5 minutes for a single Fire Plug give you plenty of time to fuel your burning tinder. Procamptek Fire Plugs
These fire plugs are small, densely woven cotton cylinders impregnated with wax and some other flammable material. They're waterproof and are very, very durable tinder sources. I always carry two methods of ignition on me, a firesteel and a lighter, and those items in combination with a couple fire plugs mean I can make fire anywhere, in any condition, even in the pouring rain. I carry two of the plugs in the small 5th pocket of my jeans, and this is where the durability of the these things really comes in handy. I've had plugs last months in my pocket without leaving wax, residue, chemicals, or smell. Until you fluff these things apart and light them they are inert; no smell, no greasy chemicals, nothing...aside from that they have the same odor as crayons. They're also completely dry to the touch, not oily like some other similar products on the market. I like to cut ¼ off the fire plugs, make a slit longways in the piece, and pull it apart to expose the fluffy inner fibers. That's enough tinder for me to light with one strike of a ferro rod and that small ¼ of fire plug will burn with the intensity of a hot candle for about two and a half minutes. If you cut ¼ off the end of the plugs, you can also fit three of them into the handle of an ESEE Fire Kit, giving you plenty of tinder for the road. As for Bushcraft Outfitters, they not have the best price around on these but their shipping costs are low, they package everything securely, and they get orders out very fast. I'm never left waiting when I order from them, and I really appreciate that. Trust me, buy a pack of these now and go have fun with them.

Fire Plugs
Was excited to see so many people brag on these fire plugs. I have many different fire starters, but never with a fire plug. These tiny, compact fire starters are the bomb. Catches a spark quickly and burns long enough to get a great fire going. Highly recommend these compact, light weight, firestarter to everyone looking to reduce weight in their packs or pockets.

these are a great item to carry along with you. They take a spark with no problems. The burn time is amazing and you can cut them in half and fluff them up. Very happy with these.
